<< good luck out there >>

2022

In 2021, I found myself flirting with the idea of quitting art altogether. Burnt out from my day job and watching my confidence erode, I found myself longing for something simple: comfort, levity, a sense of play. Yet amid the isolation of the pandemic, the usual sources of that solace—friendship, travel, the quiet refuge of libraries and museums—were largely out of reach. Layered onto this was a broader climate of unease: the social reckonings of BLM, the rise in anti-Asian sentiment, and a pervasive, collective uncertainty that left me feeling unmoored.

<<good luck out there>> emerged from this period as a way of working through it. The series captures fleeting anxieties and passing thoughts, while also reaching—often tentatively—toward hope and joy amid widespread confusion and disquiet. It is less a resolution than a record of searching: an attempt to hold space for both vulnerability and levity in equal measure.
